I've a Rainbird ESP-Me3 that's only a few months old - purchased it to replace an older ESP-Me controller that wasn't wifi module compatible. The older ESP-Me had an external transformer that was part of the plug, but this new model has the transformer housed inside the controller. Transformers fried. I have a system with an early Rainbird ESP controller that had a fried transformer. I checked ohms on all station wires before replacing with a new transformer but it blew the new one too on station four. Found the valve in question and was an old black wire Hunter solenoid that was obviously bad.
